Moby Francke (born 1972,[1] Saint Thomas, Caribbean) is conceptual artist for Valve since May 2002.[2]

Biography

Character designer for Half-Life 2 and art lead for Team Fortress 2, he brings to Valve academic fine art training with an emphasis in illustration. After graduating from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco he attended from 1996 to 2001,[2] he worked at LucasArts as a conceptual designer, and taught figure painting at the Academy of Art University. He has won several awards, including two New York Society of Illustrators Competition Awards.[3] He is engaged to Paige Stoll.[4]
On Valve's official website, his function is described as follows: "Moby is a character designer for Half Life 2 and the art lead on Team Fortress 2. He brings to Valve academic fine art training with an emphasis in illustration. After graduating from the Academy of Art San Francisco, he worked at Lucas Arts as a conceptual designer, and taught figure painting at the Academy of Art SF. He's won several prestigious awards, including 2 New York Society of Illustrators Competition Awards. He is originally from the small Caribbean island of St. Thomas, and enjoys the simple things of life."[3]
